Happy Halloween!

Halloween night has finally arrived!  This is one of our favorite nights in our neighborhood.  Like always, we gathered with all our neighbors for pizza before loading up and going trick-or-treating.

Lots of good costumes this year!
Cassidy and her friends all went as Frozen characters.  Too precious!
Lucky for us, Aunt Mo was in town and got to enjoy the festivities as well!  She was so good with Cassidy and took her door-to-door.
Stetson and his friend Jacob both went as different troopers from Star Wars (Stetson is on the left).
Aunt Mo even got involved and wore some glow in the dark coolness!  I loved this because it was so easy to see where she was.
I didn't dress up but I did wear a witch hat.  I was dubbed the Wicked Witch of Woodbridge West.
Our sweet little Anna (aka Cassidy).
The boys didn't have to stay with the little ones and enjoyed their little taste of freedom.
We are rockin' and rollin'!
Since Mommy is a big ol' scaredy cat, Daddy had to take Cassidy up to some of the houses.  He loved it, though!
We had such a fun Halloween and got LOTS of candy!!  Somehow Mama Bear escaped without getting her picture taken, but I want to thank her for joining us as well.  We created some great memories!

1st 9 Week Awards

It's hard to believe that the first nine weeks of the school year are complete already.  It's always hard to get back in the swing of things and refocus after a Summer of fun and sun.  It appears Stetson and Cassidy had no problem getting back in the groove, though!

We attended the third grade award ceremony this morning and Stetson received 5 awards!  We cannot express how proud we are of him; especially since he played two sports during this time period and hardly ever had any "down time".
He was chosen by his teacher for a character award, which is only presented to one boy and one girl.
He also received a math award...
And the coveted Principal's Award for having grades of 95 or higher in all subjects on his report card!
The final two were for perfect attendance and never being tardy.  J and I will take credit for these as well.  :)
We also attended the Kindergarten award ceremony.  It is safe to say that Cassidy is following in her big brother's footsteps.  This girl racked up six awards!!  Such an accomplishment since this is her first time in "big school" and she had two extra-curricular activities.  We are super proud of her as well!
Cassidy knows all her letters.
As well as all the letter sounds.
She can count to 100...
And already reads past a Kindergarten level!!  Woo Hoo!
She also received the awards for perfect attendance and never being tardy.
What a couple of smarties we have!!  Keep up the GREAT work, kiddos!

Pumpkins 2014

Although the kids already carved a pumpkin with Aunt Mo, they still wanted to carve pumpkins of their own at home.  So, we pulled out the newspaper and got to work!

Cleaning out the inside is always ooey, gooey fun!
Cassidy is finally old enough to do this part by herself!
Fun times...
We decided to make pumpkin seeds this year too! Cassidy was a great helper with this part.
Thank goodness Daddy has artistic abilities!  If this part was up to me, we would have a disaster on our hands.
Now it's finally time to carve!  Daddy drew the faces and the kids carved them out.
Again, Cassidy was finally old enough to do this by herself!
Cassidy's jack-o-lantern turned out super cute too!
Stetson's is equally as awesome!
Just look how beautiful they are all lit up...
Great job, my little goblins!

Pumpkin with Aunt Mo

Aunt Monica is in town to spend Halloween with us!!  The kids couldn't wait to see her and luckily, she and Mama Bear picked them up from school today so they could have some play time.  They spent their time designing and carving a pumpkin together!  Stetson and Cassidy even got to use power tools to carve it.  We love Aunt Mo!

Great job, guys!
Picture perfect!

Awesome Conduct

Little Miss Cassidy did something we were not 100% sure she could achieve the first nine weeks of the school year.  She had perfect conduct!! She gets a green on the days that she does well and a purple on exceptional days.  Cassidy had 9 purples and the rest green!!  We are super duper proud!!

Cassidy is proud of herself as well!
As a treat, we took her to her favorite little girl place to get a manicure and pedicure.  She LOVED having her feet washed.
Pretty toes and a toe ring!
Next up, the fingers.
Beautiful!  She got a ring too!
No mani/pedi would be complete without glitter! She got glitter spray in her hair and glitter stars on her face.
Precious!
And last but not least, you have to spoil yourself after getting your nails done by choosing a sucker, right?
A gold star sucker for our gold star girl!!
Cassidy, we are so proud of you and know you will keep up the great work!

Halloween Party

J and I were invited to our annual neighborhood Halloween party again this year.  It is always so much fun but figuring out a costume is always so hard.  If you recall, last year we dressed as Sheldon and Amy from the tv show "The Big Bang Theory".  This year, we decided to go a whole different direction.

For 2014, we are a deer in headlights!  Enjoy the pics!

Star Student

Besides spending the weekend with Curious George, Cassidy also had to make a poster about herself. She could put anything she wanted to on the poster, as long as it was all about her.  She had fun making the poster!  If you recall, Stetson had the same project when he was in Kindergarten.

I helped Cassidy make the poster since she can't quite do everything herself yet.  So, I did my part and then handed it over to her for completion. George helped her too.
Cassidy loves to color!
The finished product!  Awesome job, Diddy Bug!
Here is a close-up...
So you can enjoy "all things Cassidy", here is what her poster says:

These are a few of my favorite things:
Color - pink
Animal - lion
Food - cheese
Book - Curious George
Sport - Soccer
Thing to do at school - Recess
Thing to do at home - Play with family

Fascinating facts about me:
- I am 5 years old
- My birthday is May 28
- I live in Sachse
- I am in Kindergarten
- I go to school by bike
- My teacher is Mrs. Aldrich
- The members of my family are Mommy, Daddy, Bubba, and me
- When I grow up I want to be a mom

Three super cool things about me:
- I have two dogs
- I love gymnastics
- I play soccer

I show others I care by helping them.

A Weekend with George

Cassidy gets to spend the weekend with Curious George!  George belongs to her teacher and each weekend the Star Student gets to spend time with him.  At the end of the weekend, they have to write a letter to The Man in the Yellow Hat and tell him all about George's adventures with his new friend. Cassidy and George's adventures went a little something like this...

After returning home from school on Friday, Cassidy and George attended Stetson's football practice. Cassidy loved showing him all of Stetson's friends and telling him all about football.
When practice was over, they headed over to the high school stadium to watch the "Crosstown Showdown", which is the Wylie vs. Wylie East high school football game.   That was exciting because it was Cassidy's first high school game.
Go Pirates!!
On Saturday, George got to go to another football game! This time is was Stetson's game.  Then on Sunday, we all watched NFL football on tv.  I think George learned a lot about football from Cassidy.

George also got to experience grocery shopping. Cassidy had a blast pushing George around in the basket.
Sadly, Cassidy came to her last night to snuggle with George before having to return to school. She had so much fun with him and already misses him terribly!
We hope George had just as much fun with Cassidy as she did with him.  Now he's off to more adventures with Cassidy's friends.
