First Day of School

It's the first day of school already!  It's so hard to believe that Stetson is now in 2nd grade and Cassidy is in Pre-K.  Where has the time gone?!

Stetson - First Day of 2nd Grade - 8/26/13 - When I grow up I want to be a baseball player.

Cassidy - First Day of Pre-K - 8/26/13 - When I grow up I want to be a teacher.

We are so excited for the school year ahead of our kiddos!

We took Stetson to school first and got him all settled in.
Stetson and his teacher, Mrs. Johnson.
Next, we took Cassidy to Primrose to start Pre-K. She won't start wearing her uniform until next week so I will have more pictures then.
Stetson and Cassidy, we love you SO much and wish you the best school year yet!

Starting Very Soon...

We are getting excited about the new school year and extra curricular activities beginning again!  It has been a GREAT Summer, though.  With that said, I am pleased to announce that...

Stetson will be returning to the Tigers soccer team!  The boys have moved up a division this year but we plan on an action packed season. Practice starts tomorrow and his first game is 9/7.

Cassidy will be taking gymnastics!  Our little bendable and flip-able dare devil will have the proper place to try out all her tricks now.  She starts next Tuesday.

Cassidy will also continue her ballet and tap classes through Dance Techniques while at Primrose.  This starts back up next Wednesday.

What a fun and exciting Fall we have planned!  I will keep you all updated and post lots of pictures!

Melon Dash

Amy and I completed our Summer Run Project today with the Melon Dash!  We ran our 5k through historic downtown McKinney and I have to say that this one was the toughest.  We did it, though!
After our run, we walked over to Farmer's Market and purchased fresh fruits and vegetables and planned a celebratory dinner together with our families.  We then returned home and hit the hot tub to relax our muscles but it was HOT so we jumped into the pool...that was heavenly.  We then went our separate ways until dinner time.

During our time apart, I think we both suffered symptoms of heat exhaustion.  We both got achy, super tired, and had a headache.  We also both took really long naps.  I guess that's the price you pay for running in 100+ degrees!

Even though we had slight complications due to the heat, we plan on continuing our Run Project throughout the year!  We will do a 5k every month!  Come on cool weather!

Let's Play

Well, I forgot my camera yet again!  Today we headed to Dave & Buster's for lunch and arcade games. This was the first time the kids have been here.  It is safe to say that we will be back!

We played all the games and won LOTS of tickets (994 to be exact).  The kids went into the store and purchased inflatable hammers, slap bracelets, and a gumball machine with their tickets.  We all left with big smiles on our faces!

Summer Adventures in Fair Park

This is another MUST DO!!  Today we headed to Summer Adventures in Fair Park.  The best way to describe it is the State Fair in the Summer with no lines!!
There were so many attractions and rides and we got to do all of them as many times as we wanted!  I cannot put into words just how fantastic today was.  This was the Bubble House, which is a fun house full of bubbles.
Stetson and Cassidy on the motorcycles...
Uh oh!  Cassidy found swings!  How many times do you think she rode this?  MANY!
She even got to go on her very first roller coaster.  We all went with her!

To take a break from the heat, we headed inside to build sandcastles.  They also got to search for buried treasure (coins) in the sand.
More rides!  Even I have a smile on my face.
We all rode the huge Ferris Wheel too!  Remember the world record book Stetson got?  This Ferris Wheel is in it and he was SO excited to go on it.
I had to conquer my fear of heights on this.  Just don't look down!
Time for a lunch break!  Fair food is so bad for you but so yummy!
Stetson also loves BMX bikes and riders.  Lucky for him, there was a BMX show!
They even gave him a poster and signed it for him.
He is SUPER proud of this!  These guys made his day!
It was time to cool off!  There were little areas to get wet all over the park and we took advantage.

Another way to get wet is to hop on the log ride!  This was another one we did multiple times.
Our admission also included admission to the aquarium and museums at Fair Park.  We got to feel the stingrays at the aquarium!
As well as discover all kinds of underwater creatures.
That's one big turtle!
Paddle boats!  Hard work and hot, but fun at the same time.
I had a pretty cute co-captain!
We enjoyed the butterfly house too.  There are so many beautiful butterflies!  I tried to get some pictures but they wouldn't stay still long enough to get any good ones.
Next stop...a puppet show!  The kids really enjoyed this.
To rest our legs, we took a ten minute gondola ride over Fair Park.
As soon as we were back on the ground, we headed for more rides!
Look what we found again!  Remember the mall?

Stetson and Cassidy were the best of buds all day riding all the rides together.
Until this one.  The boys went on this roller coaster.
While the girls headed to the boat rides.
Then we hit up the midway!  Both kiddos won little bears, which they immediately named Mini Papa Bear (Stetson's) and Mini Mama Bear (Cassidy's).
I think this was Stetson's favorite ride!  This is the first car of any sort that he got to drive by himself!  In fact, he got to drive his sister around.  Bumper cars are awesome!  I lost count on how many times we did this.
Another fear of heights conquered!  Look at the view, though!  This was a rotating tower that went HIGH into the air so you could get a panoramic view of the city.
We also got in a little putting practice.
And some chill time!  This was the kids' first time in a hammock.

More water!
And our last ride was spinning hot air balloons.  The kids loved it but J and I felt sick just watching them.
We literally shut the place down!  This was, by far, our favorite day!!
