Easter Eve

You would think it is Christmas Eve tonight! The kids are SO excited about the Easter Bunny coming!  After baths it was finally time to put everything out and prepare for E.B's big arrival!!

Easter baskets - check.  Plastic eggs for E.B. to fill - check.  Dyed eggs for E.B. to hide - check.  Snacks for E.B - check.  Water for E.B. - check!!!
They did a great job with the snack and water for the Easter Bunny!  The water is in a bowl because E.B. is a rabbit and it's much easier than a glass.  Good thinkin'!
I think the excitement has gotten the better of him.  Not sure what this is all about.
Of course she had to copy her big brother!
This picture cracks me up.  They just couldn't sit still.
Finally a decent picture!
After preparing all the goods for E.B., they still had time to watch one tv show before bed.  I was hoping it would calm them down a bit (not so much).
The kids asked if they could have a slumber party tonight as well, even though they had one last night already.  Rather than sleeping in their tents in the playroom, I let them sleep in their sleeping bags on the floor in Cassidy's room.  Here's hoping they actually go to sleep tonight!
Sweet dreams little ones!  More Easter fun to follow tomorrow so stay tuned!

"Cad" Cake

As another fun Easter project, the kids and I decided to make a bunny cake!  I have seen lots of different ones, but I think this one is the cutest!  I have to admit that I first saw the idea from Amber's Mom, so thank you Mrs. Nichols!!

For those that don't know, we have a bunny that lives in our backyard as well.  There are lots of rabbits in the neighborhood but this one has lived with us since he was just a little guy (all his choice...we had nothing to do with him choosing our backyard).  We named him Cad (after the Cadbury Bunny) long ago.  So...Stetson said that we were making a Cad Cake, not a bunny cake.  I love it!

The kids had so much fun decorating Cad!
Just like she did with the eggs yesterday, Cassidy did a great job decorating all by herself.
Stetson was very serious about his work and did a great job as well.  He is so creative!
Our very first Cad Cake!
Awesome job, Stetson and Cassidy!
Now comes the hard part...waiting until tomorrow to eat it!!

Gettin' Ready for the Bunny

It's hard to believe that Easter is already right around the corner!  Wasn't it just Christmas?  Oh well, it's here so we are excited and getting ready for a visit from  E.B.!!

The best part of Easter is getting to dye the eggs.  Stetson and Cassidy LOVE it! I didn't think I was going to get the eggs boiled fast enough for their liking!  Finally, though, it was time for the fun!
Poised and ready!
Ditto!  Hurry up, Mom!
We had twelve different colors!!
This was the first year that Cassidy was able to do everything herself.  She was beyond proud of herself.  Believe it or not, she didn't break a single egg!
Stetson is a pro at this now.  He's getting tricky by making designs and mixing colors.
Cassidy's finished products...
Stetson's finished products...
Everyone is happy!  I think the Easter Bunny will be too!
Happy and silly, that is!
Great job, kiddos!  The eggs are EGGS-cellent!!

Zander the Zebra

Do you remember Zander the Zebra?  If not, this post will refresh your memory...just click here.  Well, Stetson has been named Student of the Week again so we got to spend the weekend with our old friend!

Zander went with us to the soccer game Saturday morning, but Mommy had to babysit him while Stetson was busy.  He's such a good zebra!
He also went to Trevor's birthday party. Guess who we saw there too?  Mrs. Heilman!! Stetson was so excited to be able to have a picture of Zander, Mrs. Heilman and himself all together.
And of course he went to Wade's party too!  Zander enjoyed shooting hoops with Stetson.
Skating with Stetson and Parker was extra special!
Just like last time, Stetson had to write a story about his weekend with Zander and draw a picture.  Here he is hard at work tonight before he went to bed.  Sadly, this is his last night to snuggle with Zander.
Congratulations, Stetson, on being Student of the Week and taking such great care of Zander!

Let's Go to the Circus!!

We surprised the kids today with a trip to the circus!  They thought we were doing our normal boring Sunday errands, but knew something was going on when we went to the Special Events Center.  Stetson kept guessing what we were doing and finally figured it out when we gave him the clues of animals and clowns.  Boy were they excited!

What do you think...happy to be here??
We arrived early for the circus pre-party where you can ride horses or elephants or camels, jump in a bounce house, get your face painted, etc.  Since the kids did a lot of these things yesterday, they chose to ride the horses.

We were lucky enough to have them ride right next to each other as well.  Cassidy told me her horse's name was Camel.  They both really loved the horses!
Next up, we met some clowns!  Cassidy wasn't so sure at first but she quickly warmed up.
Just clownin' around.
The Ratt Pack at the circus!!
Then it was showtime!!  The Ring Master came out and the fun began!
The first act was the tigers.  There were approximately ten tigers in the center ring with only one trainer inside.  They are such majestic creatures.
The dogs had their turn next!  All the dogs were poodles (large and small) and they were very entertaining.  I tried to get a picture of one of them jumping through this hoop, but took it a tad early.  Oh well!
There were several aerial acts and they were all over!  It's hard to see but there are six different girls in the air in this picture.
This definitely takes flexibility and strength.
One of our favorite acts was Broadway Bo!  Broadway Bo was a highly trained elephant and he was incredible!  He walked on this all the way across the center ring!
And could do a handstand!  An elephant...doing a handstand!
The Ring Master was also part of the circus.  I can't remember what you call this, but it swung around in a big circle and he walked on the inside and outside of it as it swung around.  He even did it blindfolded!
Here's some video for perspective since my description isn't all that wonderful...
I thought the circus was over but it had an intermission!  The kids enjoyed some popcorn while we waited for the circus to continue.
The second half of the show was so cool!  It was by far Stetson's favorite part.  His absolute favorite act was the motorcycles!  They started with the Globe of Death.  Seriously, there are FOUR motorcycles driving very fast inside this thing!
Then they did several HUGE jumps across the arena!
Check this out...
There was a little six year old boy in the act too.  He did some small stunts on the ground while the others were flying over his head.  Guess what my almost six year old boy wants to do now??
The final act was the human bullet.  This was way cooler than I thought it would be!  Here he is before entering the cannon.
And here is what happened next...
What an incredible show!  All four of us had a great time at the circus!
